Welcome to FFT and five. I'm Chris Towers. I'm here with Dave Richard and we're talking about some start sit calls for week eight.

Now obviously we're recording this on Wednesday afternoon. First day of practices for most teams.

And so we've got some injury

news. And I think the biggest one that we're going to talk about, Brock Purdy is in the concussion

protocol. Not clear when that injury happened must have been sometime on Monday night's game.

But this is a quick turnaround. They played on Monday. They play on Sunday now. And there has not been a

player since Kenny Pickett last season to be added to the concussion protocol and then play

the same week. So that doesn't bode well. It sounds like, seems like we're likely to get

Sam Darnold starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. And look, this Kyle Shanahan offense, we have seen mediocre quarterbacks play better than expected in this offense.

But how much of a downgrade is Sam Darnold in your eyes, Dave?

I don't think it's that much of a downgrade with the understanding that the last two weeks of Brock Purdy hasn't been, what's a word I could use?

Oh, I know.

Purdy.

Get it?

Pretty.

Yeah.

See, I'm trying to bring some levity to an otherwise frustrating situation.

Look, Sam Donald is a a backup quarterback for a reason.

He struggles with past rush pressure, at least he always has throughout his career.

Certainly, Kyle Shane-Anne can come up with a couple of different ways to scheme him up
