episode. Hey, friends, welcome back to a brand new chapter in our study of the book of Matthew. We are

in Matthew chapter 13, so not quite halfway done with the book of Matthew, but pretty close.

And we're in another section where Jesus is giving some parables. He tells us not only what he's saying in these parables,

but there's a section here that we'll try to cover today where he tells us why. Why does he speak

in these parables? So very, very interesting, and I'm so glad

you tuned in. We call these parables here the kingdom parables, and how appropriate, because we're

talking about Jesus as the king, the coming promised king of Israel in the Davidic covenant, the son of David that will rule and reign.

And Jesus legitimately presented himself as a king to his own people there in Israel during the time of his earthly ministry.

And of course, we know that they rejected him. John said it this way.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not, but to as many as received him,

to them gave he power or that spiritual authority to become the sons of God. So with that in mind,

let's jump into Matthew 13 and verse one, where the Bible says,
