Good afternoon. From the KUOW Newsroom, this is Seattle now. I'm Paige Browning. A lot has happened today from protesters getting charged with crimes to a mask ban for police. Lots to tell you about. Here's a roundup of today's top stories. It's Wednesday, March 4th.

Our big story today is our mayor's new promise. Today, Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced new legislation

and money to go with it to expand tiny house villages. I have heard from so many people who are hungry

for bold, effective strategy that finally treats our homelessness emergency like an actual emergency.

And that is what we are beginning to do today.

Wilson says there's nearly $5 million her office has identified in unused funds

that she's going to invest in expanding shelter.

She also wants to raise the limit on how many people can stay in tiny house villages

unable to resolve differences with lawmakers. At issue is how to use revenue from the proposed

tax on incomes over a million dollars. The legislative session ends March 12th. One thing that has advanced,
