Welcome to Unleash the Political News Hour, I'm your host, Mayor Deb.

And today's topic, today's show, is going to be all about World War II.

And I wanted to do this show in appreciation for military appreciation month, which is happening during the entire month of May.

And I thought it would be great to highlight the stories of veterans who fought in one of the most

pivotal wars within the world's history.

Before I introduce my guest, I just want to give a timeline to refresh all of our memories

on World War II. World War II began on September 1st, 1939, with Germany's invasion of Poland. And the war lasted for roughly

six years and concluded on September 2, 1945, with Japan's surrender. The war was fought between

the Axis Powers and the allied powers across Europe, Asia,

and the Atlantic Pacific Oceans. And within those six years, there are many key dates,

there are many milestones, and many battles that mark that time period.

My guest today is somebody who knows those timelines very well because she went and interviewed 33 men and women who had either fought in one of those battles or family members who

recalled their loved ones being part of our history.
