I remember when we were pregnant with Carl, we had a total sense of innocence about everything.

And then I remember, you know, when Carl was born,

I was taking a whole bunch of pictures at that time because I thought, how is it that everything looks so beautiful.

That was totally high and and it's been really hard to get as excited this time.

I think we feel a little bit like, I don't want to say cynical but

it's like there's a loss of meaning like Carl's everything about the pregnancy

your first child it just infuses your life with so much

meaning and that I think is the hardest part it's just if life feels sort of

meaningless like if that if your greatest treasure can be taken away
