So after 9-alup, the CIA began detaining people who they believed had information about

the next attack.

In custody, they used a brutal and what turned out later, ineffective method of questioning

known as enhanced interrogation techniques.

Outside groups would later simply call it torture.

My guest today is filmmaker Alex Gippney, his new documentary The Forever Prisoner

comes out December 6th on HBO and it focuses on Abu Zabada.

He is the first high-value detainee who was subjected to the CIA's program.

Zabada, of course, is still in U.S. custody and yes, Guantanamo Bay is still open even

after we've left Afghanistan.

This new film is kind of a sequel to Gippney's Oscar winning 2007 movie Taxi to the Dark

Side.

That film tracked the extra judicial killing of an Afghan taxi driver at Bagram Air Base.

Alex, welcome to the Todd cast.

So let's talk about, first of all, getting the access you needed to accomplish this documentary,

including having to file lawsuits.

How much sooner could this documentary have been made if you hadn't had to file these

suits?

A lot sooner.

The fact is, it probably only was possible to do it in the last couple of years.
