Disney introduced its first plus size female protagonist in a new short film about body

dysmorphia.

So, the animated movie is called Reflect.

And it tells the story of Bianca, a ballet dancer who battles her own reflection, overcoming

doubt and fear by channeling her inner strength, grace and power.

Now, reflect as part of Disney's short circuit series of experimental films devoted to topics,

such as developing one's self-esteem and promoting acceptance of your body regardless of size

and shape.

Now, the rollout of this plus-sized heroine did divide public opinion on social media.

Some Twitter users accused Disney of glorifying obesity while others disagreed saying that

it was important for media companies to adequately depict a cross-section of society.

It's interesting.

I'm glad they're doing something about it.

Didn't they create some of this problem though?

I mean, their characters all the way up to the list point have looked the same and all

really portrayed a very thin princess, etc.
