Hello everybody, and welcome to the WDW Radio Show, your Walt Disney World Information Station.

I am your host, Lume Angelo, and this is show number 184 for the week of August 22, 2010.

This week, I'm pleased to be able to share with you and interview with another Disney legend.

And this one is special because I had the rare opportunity to speak with one of the original Imagineers and a man who was credited with designing just about everything on wheels for the Disney Parks.

He is Bob Gur, whose work on designing the monorail, omnimover, audio animatronics, main street vehicles, and countless others earned him the Disney legend status in 2004.

I had a chance to sit down with Bob and interview him on stage in front of a crowd of Disney enthusiasts at a recent Disney fan meet and recorded the audio to share with you.

It's a fascinating look at the life of a man whose work was instrumental in the development of attractions which continue to delight millions of guests to this day.

On August 14, 2010, I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the Pacific Northwest Mouse Meet in Linwood, Washington for the second year in a row really enjoyed the Meet the First Year and was pleased to be able to come back again.

I was actually asked by the founder, Don Morn, if I'd be willing to go on stage and interview a very special guest.

And of course I said yes even before I knew who it was, but when I heard that it was Disney legend Bob Gur, my eyes widened and I smiled like a giddy kid, because I would be so honored to have the opportunity to interview an original imaginer and someone who worked with Walt and literally designed so many of the ride vehicles.

We still see and use today in Disneyland and in Walt Disney World.

And his career spans so much more than that before he got to the Disney company and then afterwards I of course wanted to find out about his path towards working for and with Walt, because I think his story is important in that it illustrates just one of the many ways

that the Imagineers have come to work for the company and I think it's fascinating and it's inspiring because it's told in story by his first hand's account of working with Walt and the genesis of classic attractions and the problem-solving skills that brought us innovative concepts like the Omnimover and the haunted mansion.

So this segment is actually going to be in two parts because Bob started off by showing the video that he had brought with him of an interview that he gave many years ago for Disney's cast member television show.

And I normally wouldn't play something like that, but because they had asked so many of the specific and important questions that I had intended to cover in my interview, I thought it was something that you should hear first before we play my interview segment.

And then I'm going to go into my conversation with Bob and then a little bit of Q&A from the audience. Now unfortunately I was so very limited by time and it's difficult because how do you encapsulate a lifetime of work at Disney and beyond into under an hour.
