With the 20th anniversary of Disney's Hollywood Studios coming up on May 1st, I'm planning a number of segments looking back on its history, trivia, changes, hidden treasures, and so much more.

And this week, we're going to start at the very beginning.

And I'm pleased to be joined at the studios by Disney Legend and former Walt Disney World Press agent, Charlie Ridgeway, who's going to recount what it was like planning for the opening of a park whose original concept changed dramatically and showcased the glitz and the glamour of a Hollywood that was both real and imagined.

With the 20th anniversary of the opening of Disney's Hollywood Studios, of course originally known as the Disney MGM Studios, I was wandering through the park recently, and I wondered about the early days of the studios, and I mean the very early days.

So for a park that's all about the glitz and the glamour of Hollywood, I thought it would be fun to look back at the opening day of the studios itself.

And there's no person I could think of better to look back on this day with me than not only someone who was there, but somebody who was very instrumental in the events that led up to its opening as well as the day's events.

So I'm joined at Disney's Hollywood Studios with Charlie Ridgeway, former Disney World Press agent, Disney Legend, and author of his book, recounting his tales from his years at the Disney Company.

Charlie, great to see you again, thanks for joining me on the show.

Thank you, Lou, and it's good to remember again, because it was an exciting time beginning really three or four years ahead of this when we began to think and plan for an attraction park that would totally bring home.

Not totally bring Hollywood to the fore, and you know for years people who went to Hollywood wanted to tour the studios unless they had an end with somebody they couldn't get in.
