| 0:42.8 | Based on an investigation that was done by the Long Beach Police Department in cooperation |
| 0:48.2 | with loss prevention employees at T.J. Max, we identified at least 30 separate incidents where this individual, based on video |
| 0:58.5 | and photographs, shoplifted at one store over a period of about eight months. We presented |
| 1:05.7 | the case to the court in one major case, so it's only one case, but it has 30 separate counts of |
| 1:14.4 | misdemeanor theft. And I say misdemeanor because under California law, of course, if the value |
| 1:21.3 | of what was taken was below $950, it's going to always be a misdemeanor no matter how many times the person steals. |
| 1:29.7 | And so all we can do, my office, by the way, prosecutes misdemeanor cases. |
| 1:34.3 | So the only thing we can do is file a case in court for misdemeanor theft. |
| 1:39.9 | Now, are these six-month max misdemeanors or one-year max misdemeanors? |
