After months in the courtroom, several members of the proud boys have been convicted of seditious

Good morning and welcome to way too early on this Friday, May 5th.

I'm John Flemere. Thanks for being with us. We'll begin with the scramble to avoid a first-ever government default. With the clock ticking, both Republicans and Democrats are still refusing

to budge when it comes to debt-stealing negotiations. According to some new reporting in the

Wall Street Journal, the White House is weighing potential fallback options.

People familiar with the matter tell the newspaper that administration officials and lawmakers

are considering alternatives, like a short-term increase in the borrowing limit that would

buy them time to find some sort of compromise. Those same people said administration officials are also taking a fresh look at experimental

ways that the U.S. could potentially keep paying the government's bills, even if Congress

doesn't raise the debt limit.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned that the United States could default as early as June 1st,

which of course is less than a month away.
