the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning that now is not the time to loosen COVID restrictions.

Health officials have voiced concern that after seeing a dramatic drop in cases over the previous six weeks, the United States reported a much

smaller decline in new cases last week, signaling a possible plateau. Here's what the CDC

director said yesterday. I remain deeply concerned about a potential shift in the trajectory of the pandemic.

The latest CDC data continue to suggest that recent declines in cases have leveled off

at a very high number. We cannot be resigned to 70,000 cases a day, 2,000 daily deaths.
