We seek to find common ground whenever and wherever possible,

and we hope that our colleagues on the other side of the aisle,

as they temporarily inherit the majority in the next Congress,

are willing to proceed with that same spirit of cooperation, fortitude,

and mission-centered focus to get things done for everyday Americans.

Democrats make history with their new leader in the House.

And while he's offering up bipartisanship,

the Republican hoping to become Speaker seems much more focused on politically motivated

investigations. Meanwhile, a years-long legal fight over former President Trump's tax returns

seemingly comes to an end. We'll look at what, if anything, will come from the release of the documents.

And a controversial bill to block freight and rail workers from striking heads to the Senate,

where some members are threatening roadblocks to keep it from passing.

Minority leader Kevin McCarthy has issued a new

warning to the House Select Committee investigating January 6th. In a letter to Chairman Benny Thompson,

McCarthy said the committee's work will be investigated once Republicans take control of the House in January.

McCarthy, who did not comply with subpoena to appear before the committee,

demanded the panel preserve its records. House rules already require the committee to do so.

McCarthy goes on to accuse the panel of not telling the full story of the January 6th attack

and pledges to hold further hearings in the future.
