A great deal of public debate now focuses on how police do their jobs.

Arming police with body cameras could give the public and police chiefs a better view of how officers handle conflict.

But there are many other issues that need to be worked out before body cameras are deployed too widely.

We spoke yesterday.

There has been widespread coverage of numerous incidents

of police misconduct, and I think that the public is more

and more interested to know how the police who are tasked to protect their rights behave and

body cameras offer a way to do this and it's not a surprise that they enjoy

widespread support whether it's biracial or political demographic.

How do cops generally feel about them?

So I think it's fair to say that many cops are in favor of body cameras

because as I've said before, only bad cops I think should be worried about body cameras.

Body camera footage that has gone out into the public

has highlighted very poor behavior on the side of police,

but it's also highlighted really good behavior.

And I think that's something police know and welcome. I'm thinking of examples where the footage provides a piece of evidence that lacking context creates a piece of evidence that lacking context creates a lot of outrage that may not be well founded.

Sure, so I think an example from this year happened in Palestine, Texas where officers shot a robbery suspect.

They were escorting him out of a restaurant.
