right here exactly where we are today. The state and the federal cases against 27-year-old

Luigi Mangione, the man accused of assassinating United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan

sidewalk. I'll start with the basic scene here because it matters.

It's December 4th of 2024. Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Health Care, is walking down a

midtown Manhattan sidewalk on his way to a hotel for his company's annual investor conference.

This is the kind of world where people talk about earnings, margins, shareholder value, not street violence.

And then a masked gunman comes up from behind him, shoots him, and walks off.

No argument, no warning, no robbery, just a public execution in the middle of Manhattan captured on surveillance

video. Five days later, police walk into a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, about 230 miles

away and approach a man eating breakfast alone. He's wearing a beanie and a medical mask, and according to prosecutors,

that man is Luigi Mangione. They've had his image out of the news now for quite some time

up until the arrest on social media, tied to the surveillance stills from the shooting.

Customers of the McDonald's think he looks a lot like the guy they've seen on TV.

A manager calls 911.

Police surround him and they start asking questions.
