Right, so we have a bit of a treat for you now.

You're probably aware on the podcast.

We don't often get into cultural questions around the Second World War.

But actually, if the Second World War is one thing, it's the first pop culture war, I think.

It exists in a media in a completely new way.

You've got radio, you've got film.

We've often talked, Jim and I have often talked about how Allied commanders in particular

are pretty preoccupied with how they're projected themselves through media and how they're

making use of things like picture posts to communicate their command message, mainly to people at home

to reassure the populations at home that they're men are in good hands and all that sort of stuff.

We've talked about a lot, but what we've not ever done, or James did very recently,

is talked about music.

And when you consider how central music is to our lives, we live in a world where you basically can't avoid music.

There's music absolutely everywhere.
