Hi, Crime Junkies. I'm your host, Ashley Flowers, and I'm Brett.

0:05.0

And today I want to tell you about a place that sort of tucked away from the rest of the

0:09.5

world, nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. A town where for a long

0:15.7

time, everybody knew everybody else. Nobody was afraid to keep their doors unlocked, and

0:21.2

the yards were literally surrounded with white-picked fences. It used to be the kind of town

0:26.6

where bad things weren't supposed to happen. Until one fateful spring night, over 40 years

1:51.4

middle of the woods, nearest neighbor is pretty far away.

1:55.2

So you're half right, so they're definitely out in the woods, and Kettie's this like

2:00.1

minuscule small town right near several of Northern California's National Forest, but

2:05.9

the Sharp family's cabin is not as isolated as you might think because you see it's part

2:10.7

of a resort area. The way the Kettie resort is laid out, there's around 25 or 30 cabins

2:16.8

out here, and they're all built pretty close to each other. Like, for example, the Sharp's

2:21.0

house is literally only like 15 feet away from the cabin next door. Oh, okay. So yeah,
