The announcement of the latest Federal Reserve decision

gave a major boost to stocks on Wednesday.

The major U.S. equity averages finish sharply higher, led by a 4% gain in the NASDAQ.

All 11 S&P sectors posted gains on the session.

The rally was led by communication services, which soared 5.1% Infotech jump 4.3% while

consumer discretionary saw a nearly 3.9% advance. Looking to the bond, the two-year Treasury yield dropped seven

bases points to reach 2.98 percent. The 10-year Treasury yields retreated about

one basis point to hit 2.78%. In its policy announcement the US Central Bank

raised rates by another 75 basis points. This was followed by comments from

Fed Chair Jerome Powell who suggested that the rate hikes would become less aggressive

as the inflation fight drags on.

Pending home cells crumbled 8.6% in June, excluding the pandemic, this was the lowest level since 2011.

A lot to talk about in the earning spotlight today.

Valero Energy, Pfizer, Anheuser-Bush Embev, Mastercard, Southwest Airlines, Barclays, Merck, Intel, Altria Group, Southern Company, Apple, Amazon, and Comcast.
