Congress. Looking back to where the major indices left off Friday before the

holiday, the NASDAQ closed up 0.7%. The S&P 500 finished up 0.4%, and the Dow

ended up 0.3%. The corporate earnings season began to ramp up on Friday with a string of reports from the financial sector.

J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo all announced results.

The list of earnings reports also included

some big players outside the financial sector. United Health and Delta Airlines

both revealed results as well. In the earnings spotlight today, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, United Airlines, and Silver
