Hey everyone, it's Michael. Today I'm here to present an interview I recently conducted with

0:04.7

author Jeff Gwynn, who you may know from his prior true crime adjacent books, Manson, the life

0:10.3

and times of Charles Manson, as well as the road to Jonestown, Jim Jones and People's Temple.

In this episode, we're going to chat a little bit about Jeff's new book, Waco, David Kuresh,

0:20.8

The Branch Dividians, and The Legacy of Rage. Jeff and I get into the specifics about the book

0:25.8

throughout the interview. And as someone who did not know a ton about the finer workings of the

0:30.6

Waco story beforehand, I can promise that it is excellent. I would highly encourage each of you

1:12.2

And I just wanted to really commend you on how you managed to chart the evolution of that

1:19.3

compound, how it started with the original followers that went to Waco in the early 20th century.

1:25.7

Thank you. That was something I really thought was important. How can we understand what

1:30.5

the Branch Dividians did in 1993 if we didn't know how they had evolved?

1:35.5

Yeah, definitely. It was something that I think just brought a lot more context to what happened.

1:42.5

And I was particularly drawn to the story of the Rodin family.

1:47.4

Which yeah, is one that I had never really heard of before, but I feel like that could almost be an

1:52.4

entire, you know, like a mini series of its own. Would you mind going into how you started researching

1:57.1

that? We can't understand what David Kuresh did and what the Branch Dividians did under Kuresh's
