Summary

All golf talk is set aside at the start of this Friday episode, which was recorded minutes after the Bears traded up and drafted QB Justin Fields (and hours after reporting on Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay). A giddy Andy walks through his emotions of the day and proclaims the Bears “back.” Eventually, there is golf talk -- the Valspar chatter transitions to discussion on the PIP thirst this week, which leads to an article on who has been getting the most PGA Tour Live run this year, which leads to a study sent in by a listener on how the stars on the PGA Tour compare to the NBA stars earnings-wise. News focuses on Rickie’s exemption into the PGA, which is panned. A new segment focuses on one national hero that will be playing the U.S. Women’s Open at Olympic. Flashback Friday is a glorious look back at the career of a two-time winner in Tampa, K.J. Choi.

Now the shotgun's starting golf is full of mathematics, there's a lot of set up work that we have to do in order to make a tournament work, so I'm going to demonstrate to you just exactly how we do a shotgun start here.

And here we go.

All right, all right, all right.

Gentlemen, start your engine!

Greetings and welcome to a Friday edition of the shotgun start. It is April 30th, Andy. How are we doing?

0:43.0

I didn't expect to be saying this, but it's Victory Friday.

0:50.0

Fantastic. I'm so, so happy for you. I think like, regardless what happened in the draft, started out with a little turmoil up north, a team turmoil up north in Green Bay, just a complete mess.

Who knows if they'll ever recover? It was already a good day. Then you make waves. I mean, we are full disclosure recorded within 10 minutes after the Bears have just traded up to pick number, was it 11?

1:19.0

That they landed at?

1:21.0

11?

1:22.0

With the Giants, and they selected Justin Fields, a quarterback of Ohio State. How are you feeling? I mean, you signed on and you were screaming, throwing your hands in the air. What's your reaction?

1:33.0

I'm elated. It's hard to even put into words. I was in the gutter as a football fan. The Andy Dalton, Nick Fools, quarterback, Poo Poo Platter, that we had trotting out there in aging defense, a shotty offensive line.

1:54.0

We really didn't give much hope, and now we have hope. I'm dreaming already of actually having a real quarterback. Whether he turns out great or not, most have it turned out good for the Bears.

2:10.0

Our franchise is littered with disasters. Mitchell Chavisky didn't work out, but we have hope again, and hope is like all that you can ask for.

2:21.0

At the quarterback position, I'm just so elated. He's a stud. He's awesome. He's going to have a little chip on his shoulder for dropping to 11.

2:33.0

He seemed pissed when they showed him on TV. He seemed like he's ready to rock.

2:38.0

I think we're going to have a little situation similar to Mitch. You had Tray Lance and Zach Wilson go ahead of him, and those guys, they didn't, Mitch didn't play the games that Watson played.

2:52.0

You know, it's a very similar, eerily similar situation where these NFL teams maybe talk themselves into these guys, like Tray Lance didn't even play last year.

3:02.0

If Justin Fields doesn't play, he goes number two, probably. If he plays, and he had one of the best games of any quarterback in college football history in that season, they played against.

3:15.0

You know, it's just, I'm through the moon. I can't, I'm through the moon. I'm just so happy.

3:22.0

Through the roof and the moon. Yeah.

3:24.0

This, this, this day from my football fandom has really, has really been all I can ask for.
