This is Hotel Mars episode and I'm John Bachelord with David Livingston,

Dr. Space of the Space Show, my colleague and co-host on hotel Mars.

And Dr. David Grinspoon, who's the author of several books about the solar system,

most recently one about Pluto.

But now we're headed to Venus.

The prospect is a mission called Da Vinci.

And Dr. Grinspoon, David and I have been doing our homework.

David introduced me to Rebecca Hahn, a young researcher at Washington University,

in St. Louis, who with her mentor, her PhD dissertation mentor,

have counted volcanoes larger, large enough from the data that is available on the surface of Venus.

85,000 was the number giver takes several hundred.

They came up with an a map of Venus showing where the really large volcano,

some of them 100 kilometers across are located.

And also two areas that sure look like continents where the volcanoes thin out.
