Summary

For this special edition of Together Runs, join Tina and a group of friends for a run around Venice Beach, California. While this is an Allbirds event that it may feel you need to be at, Tina is constantly finding ways to bring in listeners at home. We do our usual body scan, senses check ins, and conversation, but this run is a little more upbeat than usual. Hear inspiring stories from previous podcast guests like Jordan Marie Daniel and Natalie Mitchell, and new friends met on that day.

land caretakers of Tevangar, Los Angeles Basin, Southern Channel Islands, and all across

LA County into Orange County. And I'm grateful to be a guest on these lands to support the

0:44.0

Taraks, the Taraks of Indigenous peoples in this place in on these lands. This is an opportunity

0:49.8

for every person, whether you're Indigenous or not, to always continue learning about the

0:53.9

history of the Indigenous peoples as the first peoples of these stolen lands that we're on.

0:57.8

And how can we gain a new perspective of how we connect with them, but also connect with the

1:02.0

community of Indigenous peoples that are still very much here, still very present. And sadly,

the Tongvachimash people don't have federal recognition, like 570 plus tribes do have federal

recognition. And so a lot of their village traditional villages and everything, like especially in

there. And so this is just bringing greater awareness to where we are today. How can we gain a

1:30.9

new perspective? How can we take proactive action to be good stewards of the land caretakers,

1:36.2

but also co-conspirators and allies with Indigenous peoples to continue caretaking for the lands,

1:41.5

to continue celebrating and honoring Indigenous peoples in our history, and to hopefully build a

better next generation for everyone that comes into the running and outdoor community at one

of the outside. So, grateful to share that. And if you want to learn whose lands you're on,
