I say it's a private primary because clearly it doesn't have the blessing of the dictator.

However, it is extremely exciting to go forward with this method. How is it that it's going

Well, good evening, John. Yeah, the opposition in Venezuela has gotten together

and figured out how to run a private primary or so they say. So this will not involve

the National Electoral Council, which is Maduro's electoral body. People are able,

including the diaspora, are able to register online and they will go and vote on that day.

Now, Maria Corina Machado, who's one of the candidates told me that one of the reasons why

they're doing this, the main reason they're doing this is that they are basically trying to ensure

that Maduro does not choose who he gets to run against because he will go with an opposition that

is not seen well by the public and probably he'll also finagle the vote. But she wants to take

the pulse of the Venezuelan people and find out who it recognizes as its leadership. And
