Adapting to a team that's not fighting at the front is challenging, but Valtteri Bottas hasn't lost his desire to win.

I still don't see my Formula One career ending in the near future.

I don't feel any performance losses on my driving, so still there's this thing inside me that really wants to win.

Bottas has been in Formula One for more than a decade now, a decade in which he's delivered 10 Grand Prix victories,

podiums are plenty, and multiple team titles with Mercedes.

Now he wants to use that experience and winning mentality to take Alfa Romeo forward.

I'm Tom Clarkson, and in this episode, I'm joined by a man whose popularity among fans continues to grow.

Patience was a virtue at the start of Valtteri's Formula One career.

He scored just one top 10 finish during a disappointing debut campaign with Williams in 2013,

but his potential quickly turned into points and podiums over the next three years.

Mercedes then made their move for him in 2017, after Nico Rosberg retired and Valtteri blossomed with the silver arrows.

10 race wins and 58 podiums later, he'd helped the team win five constructors' world titles in five years.

Louis Hamilton still describes Bottas as the best teammate he's ever had, but the Finn doesn't like being a wingman.

Mercedes and Valtteri parted ways at the end of 2021, and he pursued a new challenge with Alfa Romeo.

Cooler, calmer, and now sporting a mullet.

He seems like a different man.

Valtteri tells me how learning to be less sensitive and thicker-skinned has changed his approach to Formula One.

We also discuss how he's become a much more refined racer.
