We have a DNA scientist. So I'm really

excited because you know DNA is how so much is being cracked especially in cold

cases. Our guest today who's also our co-host is David Middleman.

So David is the founder and CEO of Othrum Inc.

It is a biometrics company that uses DNA sequencing to solve some of the toughest cold cases.

The lab is located in Woodlands, Texas, which is just north of Houston.

David's team helped to crack an unsolved murder case.

17 year old high school student who was killed nearly 50 years ago.

That is one of the cases we're going to talk about today.

Also, David has a PhD in molecular biophysics.

David, before we get to our cases,

I really want to ask you really how you do what you do because I read one of your quotes that I was fascinated by. You said,

we take terrible evidence that other labs won't touch. What does that mean? So a lot of, you know, a lot of the cold cases, the older ones, there's DNA that's been left at the scene.

There's some DNA evidence left, but there's something that makes it unsuitable for testing, at least

using standard methods.
