Today is part two of the National Transportation Safety Board's two-day hearing on quality and safety

in Boeing's manufacturing process prompted by the mid-flight fuselage blowout on an Alaska

Airlines plane in January.

Some new details have emerged on the challenges

facing the plane maker and one of its key suppliers. Marketplace's Nova

Safo has more. At the hearing, Boeing said it's come up with a redesign of its door plugs on Max Plains

to prevent them from being mistakenly installed on fuselages without bolts.

That's the cause of the Alaska Airlines blowout.

The hearing also provided accounts from Boeing employees

saying they were rushed at work and Terry George, a senior executive at Boeing's

fuselage supplier's spirit error systems, said his company has had trouble finding qualified workers post-COVID.

Five years ago, 95% of the foods that we brought in had sheet metal experience in assembly.

Now it's completely opposite. It's you

know a 5% as a result spirit has had to increase training. Today the hearing is

scheduled to focus on Boeing's and Spirit's safety and

quality management systems and on FAA oversight of the two companies.
