Well, FD 2030 was an effort to sort of reorganize and re employ the Marine Corps

so it could fight a war in the Pacific.

For too many years, say 20 years, the Marines along with everyone else were focused on the

sandbox, Afghanistan and Iraq.

And the then commandant of the Marines and a lot of other Marines realized that the Marines needed to pay attention to the Pacific

particularly with the looming China threat which is one that could could defeat us

So I thought it was a good change, a focus

to have the Marines sort of deploy and apply their thinking

to the Asia-Pacific region.

The Marine Corps operated in Iraq and Afghanistan to a great extent, but I'm thinking of Iraq

in the combat phase, as a heavy military unit with tanks and planes and tubed artillery, operating out of bases and putting together
