Yesterday the US Supreme Court threw a real wrench into Jack Smith's plan to prosecute President Trump prior to the November election. That's because after mulling it over

for well over a month, the US Supreme Court

officially granted President Trump's appeal and they agreed to hear his

presidential immunity argument. Now in case you're having a hard time

keeping track of all the cases against Trump

and how they all fit together let me give you a quick breakdown of which case this

relates to what it means for that case as well as what it means for the

upcoming presidential election.

To start with, this presidential immunity argument arose from the January 6th case,

as the one being pushed forward over in Washington, D.C., wherein Jack Smith and his team of prosecutors have charged

President Trump with four counts of conspiracy and obstruction related to the

events that took place on January 6th of 2021. Now for the past several months,

this case has been at a bit of a standstill.

And the reason for that is twofold.

And actually, both of these two reasons

involve the US Supreme Court.

The first reason that this case has been stalled

is because the charges against President Trump in this particular case,

namely the obstruction-related charges, they arise out of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, otherwise known as the Corporate and

Auditing Accountability, Responsibility, and Transparency Act.

This law, it was passed by Congress back in the year 2002 shortly after the financial fraud over at
