Okay, we are live.

We have Alexander Merkiris joining us in London, and we have the one and only Mr. Professor Jeffrey Sacks,

0:12.0

joining us from the Center of Sustainable Development. That link is in the description box down below,

0:18.0

as well as the link to Professor Sacks is a blog full of amazing articles.

That link is in the description box.

And I will also have that as a linked comment as well.

When the live stream is over, Alexander, Mr. Sacks, what are we going to talk about today?

0:37.0

We're going to talk about perhaps the single most important subject of all,

0:40.7

which is the looming confrontation between China and the United States over economic policy

1:49.3

We see similar patterns in US policy as compared to those with Japan in the 1980s. And by the way, I'm sorry to say this, lots of gloating articles, especially at least in the

2:03.6

British media, about how China is now in decline, how its economy is going to fade, about how

2:12.1

the challenge from China, which I think is greatly misunderstood anyway, is going to dwindle in the future.

2:22.1

So Professor Sachs are China's economic problems like Japan's from the 1980s and is the United States playing a role in bringing them about?

2:38.1

Now that's a huge question. Let's take it in part.
