I've really missed you, too, in the intervening 72 hours or so.

Coming up tonight, the US appears to be getting friendlier with Putin.

The Palestinian death toll for the last 18 months has now surpassed 50,000. What a grim milestone indeed. And Rachel Reeves plans to act 10,000 civil service jobs, and possibly some other things too.

Russian and American negotiators are today in talks in Riyadh, discussing the possibility of extending the very partial Russia-Ukraine ceasefire that's been in place since last week.

As it stands, Russia has only agreed to halt attacks on energy

infrastructure in Ukraine. But the focus today has been on whether an agreement can be reached

to limit attacks in the Black Sea. That would allow Ukraine to resume exporting grain,

and will go hand in hand with an easing of some of the sanctions on Russia. The prospects of a wider and more lasting ceasefire, unfortunately, remain pretty bleak.

And Putin's stated red lines for agreeing any lasting peace include a halt to all foreign military aid

and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, restrictions on the sides of its armed forces,

and international recognition of the four Ukrainian regions

Russia illegally annexed following stage referendums in 2022.

They are conditions which will be impossible for Ukraine to accept, but will Trump accept them?

His chief negotiator, Steve Wiccoff, has been speaking to Tucker Carlson.

I think the largest issue in that conflict are these so-called four regions.
