From CNN, I'm David Rind with the five things you need to know for Tuesday, March 3rd.

Take cover immediately.

That was the new directive from the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia to Americans there earlier today,

as Iran continues to strike U.S. targets and U.S. allies in the Middle East.

The U.S. has also closed its embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and is warning Americans

in more than a dozen countries in the region to leave now.

President Donald Trump says Tehran is seeking talks with the U.S., but he said in a true

social post, it's too late.

Trump told CNN yesterday the U.S.'s, quote, big wave of attacks on Iran is yet to come.

Later today, top Trump administration officials will be briefing Congress on the ongoing operation,

as lawmakers are expected to vote on the president's war powers later this week.

Secretary of State, Marco Rubio argued that the imminent threat from Iran that prompted U.S.

action was its expected retaliation to planned Israeli military action.

We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action.

We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces.

And we knew that if we didn't preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks,

we would suffer higher casualties.

Israel says it's conducting strikes in both Tehran and Beirut, targeting Iranian military sites

and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah as the war opens up a new front in Lebanon.

Israel's prime minister and defense minister have instructed the country's military to

quote, advance and seized territory in Lebanon to deal with Hezbollah.
