I'm Tim Franks. It's day two, in other words, the final day of Donald Trump's state visit to the United Kingdom,

his unprecedented second state visit.

And within about 20 minutes or so, we're told at least as far as we expect,

he's due to give a joint news conference alongside the British Prime Minister Kirstama.

So far, all the coverage has suggested that

the events have gone rather well as far as the visitors and hosts are concerned, because up to now,

Mr and Mrs Trump and their delegations have been bathed pretty much non-stop in royal pageantry and ceremony,

reaching its apogee in a glittering banquet at Windsor Castle last night.

Today, though, well, it could all become a bit crunchier, because after a fond goodbye between King Charles and President Trump on the front steps of the castle, Mr. Trump was whisked by helicopter the short distance to the Prime

Minister's official country residence, Chequers. And the likely agenda of their discussions,

well, you can think trade wars and real wars in Ukraine and in Gaza. And as ever with Mr. Trump,

the possibility in the forthcoming news conference

that things could take an unpredictable turn, depending on what questions he's asked and where

he wants to take the conversation. Let's begin, though, with a quick look back at the gleaming

glasses, sparkling crockery and high wattage smiles from last night, beginning with the king who had these fleeting but possibly pointed words about Ukraine.
