| 0:56.0 | This is Trick Williams man. He's been on the main roster for about a day, and on this episode of SmackDown, we were in his hometown. He came out a little yachtie and the Gamecox mascot. Some people said the gingerbread man was too much, but it's just so awesome to watch his climb to the tippily top of WWE. He doesn't have to do anything anymore. He just walks out and does a pose and everyone goes nuts. Also, along my friends, and welcome to Ups and Downs, the only wrestling review show you need. My name is Simon Mel. I'm a bald idiot. I do the content for the wrestling, and I wrestle myself because I think you should push those two things together and just live life to its maximum, whatever that means. Mostly though, I hope you are having a great day, and I watch Smackdown, and here's my thoughts, and are you're going to agree with them? No, but that's the beauty of the life we lead. Let's go. I do have a down though because join the intro for Smackdown, WW announced that it would be Damien Priest versus Tamantonga. And earlier in the day, they had said it was going to be Damien Priest and Our Truth versus the MFT's and J.C. Mateo was in one of the graphics. Now, that's not cool, man. We shouldn't do that. |
| 1:11.0 | And then I think we kind of pivoted here, because W.W. went, ha, ha, what we meant to say was, our truth was injured. So now we're going to do the singles match. Let's just give it a down. The releases are hard enough as it is. You don't need to make that mistake. True Williams in come to the ring though and cut this awesome hometown promo though with everybody going crazy and he talked about eating local chicken wings and the fact his family was there. I probably should have said those two things the other way around. All the people that Miss and Kit Wilson interrupted as well, which I was not expecting. And the Miz was all like, man, I can't handle this. You come out with a small boat, you come out with mascots, and of course you love the gingerbread man. |
| 1:29.1 | What is this? |
| 1:29.7 | An episode of Sesame Street? I was like, it is a bit like that, Mr. Miz, but please do not change it because Sesame Street and wrestling are perfect bedfellows. Lil Yorty then insulted them, so little Willie, as he was calling himself, Kit Wilson was going to come back with some slam poetry. And one of the lines was actually, you wouldn't last |
| 1:45.3 | a day where I did grow up, Kit from Buckinghamshire. Kitt Wilson was going to come back with some slam poetry. And one of the lines was actually, |
| 1:44.6 | you wouldn't last a day where I did grow up. Kit from Buckinghamshire is going to mess you up. Now listen, if you've been to Buckhamshire, you will know you don't have to be scared of that place. But also, I do have to call you out, Kit Wilson. You Avril Levine this. You rhymed up with up. still funny. The tiny ship then threw back at them that they did have tiny balls and listen, I know that everybody chants it, but I did kind of feel like we could have come up with a new insult for the Miz. Listen, later on it was the Miz versus Trick Williams. What did the crowd chant tiny balls? Although I will say, if they do have tiny balls, that's not their choice. |
| 2:17.7 | They were just born that way. |
| 2:34.5 | Actually, it's not an insult. Mizz was so damn mad. He told Trick Williams who was going to beat him up in front of his mother, which did get a reaction. When we did go into this match, and essentially the Mizz was going to use a Kendo stick, and Little Yottie was like, no, you're not. I'm not going to allow you to do this. after, of course, Kit Wilson had got involved all the time. |
| 2:36.9 | So, little Yacht Kit Wilson to teach him a lesson. |
| 2:51.2 | The Miz was so damn sad. He got hit with the trickney for the one, two, three in that run, so it must be true. This just did exactly what it should have done, because Trick Williams was the hometown boy, and Miz was the idiot dude that was going to get his ass kicked. You should do this all the time. It just made Trick Williams for like a massive star. He is a massive star. He is the US champion. This was so easy to watch. That's all you need to do with wrestling. Up. We then learned it was going to be Carmelo Hayes versus Ricky Saints later and they fell out backstage. And we made absolutely sure to talk about the US title. So that's what I would do ASEP, get into some kind of position where it is Trick Carmelo and Ricky Saints. And we also cut to Sammy Zane, who was like, I would like another US title shots. Of course, Nick Aldous was like, no, you just got one, you absolute buffoon. Now you have to earn it again. Sam had a meltdown, and very luckily for him, Ray Phoenix was there. She was like, Sammy, no, you need to calm down. So I promise you this, given that Sammy's saying, is a de facto heel, he is most definitely going to whip Ray Phoenix's ass. We also cut to Paige and Bree Bella after this, when the irresistible forces interrupted. I was like, ah, it's just like groundhog day. I do not get it. And the worst part about all this |
| 3:41.9 | is when they were yelling at each other in the distance, you heard Bree mode, because they were going to a ring for a match. So it makes me does. It's like the demons. The demons are getting me, man, I need help. It really was like Roar as well, because it was Page and Bree, taking on Julia and Keanu James. Now I know we just did this to go to show that Julia and Keanu are going to fall out properly soon. But the women's tag team division is just like pulling names out of the hat and you go, oh well, now we've got to do that match. And it sounds like at the tonight's main event, we are doing Nia Jackson Lash Legend versus these two. We just keep going around the houses, I suppose. And again, we're not doing anything with Bailey and Lyra. At least Charlotte and Lexa are involved in a feud. But I think both those teams have stories you could tell and you could tie into the tag team titles. I just don't get it. I feel like we could do more. It was the kind of thing this match fell apart just a little bit. And again, as a manles, I've been in that position too, so now how horrible it is. At one point towards the end, page and Julia tumbled out the ring and Julia took a horrific fall, so I hope she is okay when essentially Bree Bella ran the playbook page, hit the rampage and she got the one, two, three. And once again, there was a bunch of miscommunication in this between Julian and Keanu James. So you can see where we are going, but it didn't really inspire me. And maybe we are grading this on the curve, because what, six months or so ago, the women's tag team taught us felt exciting. Then we did that multi-person match at WrestleMania. And the bill was all like, well, we just need to get to a multi-person match. I am going to give it a down. And listen, it's the same for the Raw and the Smackdown tag team belt. Each and every single one of these just needs an injection of something. And actually on Smackdown, the answer probably is felt influence. This is when Julia and Keanu did fall out backstage as Tiffany Strahan was cutting a promo. When Chelsea Green walked in and said, oh, Tiffany, we should be friends. |
| 5:22.1 | And Tiffany said, no. Once again, we just do these sandwich each and every single week. They last 30 seconds. |
| 5:28.6 | How could you possibly invest? And they did laugh out loud because Cody Rhodes came to the ring. |
| 5:32.8 | He got a massive response. And this crowd wasn't the loudest that WWS had this year. That's right, though. What did everyone say over a WrestleMania weekend? We should turn him heel. Incorrect. They had this contract all ready to go because, of course, Gunther had to sign it after their fallout last week. And Cody was all aggressive here. Go, come on, Mr. Ring General. If you want to go, it's time to go. When Gunther walked out in troll moogs, he was like, oh man, I'm the best, I'm going to beat you, Cody Rhodes. |
| 5:56.4 | We are going to fight and clash in Italy, but he just would not sign the deal. He was like dancing around it at one point because he was trying to get a reaction. He also went on about the fact that Cody Rhodes is not a professional. And Cody was like, wait a minute, dude, you're the guy that's been jumping me, so you're not professional at all. |
| 6:10.4 | And given that he was procrastinating, all of a sudden roy's keys came out and i genuinely thought he got lost he was meant to go left and he took a right instead but he was like listen to me guntf man if you're not going to sign that contract i will do it instead listen i understand it makes no sense because that is not how contract law works but much like rar Ripley that she did this a couple of years ago, I always want wrestling to do mad stuff because it makes me giggle. Good to stop him, of course, because excuse me, that is my contract when Nick Aldous walked out. This was so damn weird. Because it was like, listen, you have taken too long, Gunther, and even though I did make this arrangement with Paul Heyman, there was meant to be a |
| 6:44.4 | favour, I've changed my mind. And now, later on tonight, it's about to say next week, no, in the main event tonight, it is going to be you versus Roy's Keys, and the winner shall take on Cody Rhodes in Clash in Italy. Now, one, if I was Gunther, I had a meltdown here, what's the point of getting a favour if the favour doesn't go anywhere. And two, earlier on, Gunther was talking about |
| 7:03.9 | how hard it was for me. Gunther, I had a meltdown here. What's the point of getting a favour if the favour doesn't go |
| 7:01.0 | anywhere? And two, earlier on, Gunther was talking about how hard it was for me to come to Smackdown. I had to switch brands. I was like, I ain't having that one, man. Jacob for two, even though he wasn't on this show, went from Raw to Smackdown effortlessly and nobody cared. So I am going to give that a down. This Paul Heyman favour has quite clearly been used as a ur-we need to pivot. And the whole brand split thing is just silly billy. So yeah, that's a down. But actually, Cody Rhodes, Royce Keyes and Gunther, they did a great job here and they have made this for like a world-time program. So I am going to give it an up. Like watching it was awesome and entertaining and fun, and it felt like a big deal. But when you sat down, you went on nerd about it. It was like there's a lot of elements here that do not make sense. That doesn't matter. We will get over it, but I have talked about it. And as for that main event, well, we'll get there. Donaldson Coet couldn't believe what had happened either. so he told Tamatonga to go to the ring to sort out Damien priest and that he and Tallah the tallest Tonga were going to get involved in other matters. And Shinske Nakamura walked in and said, Tamma, why do you listen to these people? So Talatonga threw Shinske into a box site structure because this is a feud that is never actually, well, not even end. It's not going to start. at the moment, we've done nothing. Aldous then tried to justify his actions too, they're saying, you stalled, bro. So once again, do not dress a favour if it comes through Nick Aldis, when we did get Carmela Hay's versus Ricky Saints. And watching this, it made me realize what Smackdown is missing and maybe what Raw is missing. Although WW is leaning in this direction, it's just new matches and its fresh talent. I thought this was awesome. You could tell they had a chip on their shoulder too because they were working their asses off. And look, they did whiff a couple of things, but because they were working so hard, nobody could have cared about it because it felt like a proper fight. point Ricky point, Ricky slammed Kamala Hayes right on his head, |
| 8:42.1 | and I went all wibbley jibbley. That did not look fun at all. There's also this great splash of the frogs by Kamala Hayes for a 1-2-oo, and the first 48 also had a great near-fall, and once again, as I repeat myself here, it just felt like they both desperately wanted to win, because wins mean something in WWE, |
| 8:56.9 | and maybe that can take them for a US title shot. |
| 8:59.2 | Which is when Ricky Saints hit the most devastating move. desperately wanted to win because wins mean something in WWE and maybe that can take them for |
