It's all happening, "Vanderpump Rules" is finally back and we're diving deep into the season 11 premiere with Kate Casey, the host of the "Reality Life with Kate Casey" podcast. Gibson and Kate share their biggest takeaways from the episode, from production's hope that Rachel would still be coming back to what really went into Lala sending her that voicenote. They also discuss how they hope the rest of the season mixes it up, audience response to the show and much more. This week marked the return of the number one show in the group, Vanderpump Rules.

Season 11 premiered on Tuesday amid a lot of anticipation, a lot of hype, endless commercials,

0:44.5

and perhaps some scandal ball fatigue.

The ratings were massive for the premiere, but sentiment on social media seemed to skew fairly negative about the episode,

0:51.8

which, to be fair, tends to generally be the case on

0:54.8

social media, but it was definitely a fairly drama-free episode, and I think people are

0:59.8

forgetting that most premieres are fairly drama-free. First episodes of any season are to check

1:04.5

back in with our cast members, which in this case was about a month after the last reunion aired.

So wounds were still pretty fresh, and Scandival was still very much on the minds of not just Bravo fans, but of the cast itself. And we have to remember that these shows are about their lives. And this was what their lives were about at that time. So it makes sense that at least the beginning of this season will be about that fallout. The hard part about Vandamap rule is getting to such a high at the end of last season is that there feels like there's only one way to inevitably go, and that's down. And when the media blitz is so all-encompassing on top of the show itself, there's a risk that that fast tracks the timeline of people being over it. Clearly, people are still tuning in and talking about the premiere, so I don't think they have to worry about that. But I do hope that this season contains enough surprises in terms of how the group was maneuvering last summer. I'd say Lala's voice note to Rachel on Instagram was a pretty big surprise. I mean, people gasped at my watch party, so there's that. And if pump rules have proved anything over the years, it's that they

know how to surprise us and can't help but to deliver mess. So hopefully that continues this season.

I also hope that, and this is something that we talk about in this conversation in this episode,

2:09.6

that they are able to break the fourth wall enough, acknowledge the noise around them,

2:13.9

acknowledge that they're on this show, acknowledge that maybe they've all made a lot

2:17.5

more money off of this, acknowledge, I don't know, like part of the, part of the intrigue, I think,

2:23.5

in terms of what the fallout was from Scandibald in terms of this group is how do they feel about each

2:28.1

other in terms of how they're being treated in the public eye or the money they've made off

2:32.5

of this or the opportunities they're getting.

2:35.0

Is there jealousy there? Is anybody butt hurt about that? How do they all feel about these things?

2:40.0

I think it would be wise to lean into that and really mind that. In addition to just general

2:43.8

scandal ball fatigue, the other thing I've noticed since the episode aired is that some people
