genius Jack of many trades and a master of many.

Well, it's an absolute pleasure to be on.

I'm humbled and also delighted to be here, and particularly humbled by that.

Well, look, Otto Kerenberg, the psychoanalyst at one point, I don't know if he does a joke

frequently or whatever, but he begins every response to someone introducing him by saying,

your introduction inspired me to write a paper on a topic of idealization.

So Pat has already let the cat out of the bag.

This is the long awaited Freud pod episode of Know Your Enemy.

We're going to be diving deep into the uses of Freudianism and psychoanalytic theory

for understanding politics, right wing politics, left wing politics, liberalism, fascism,

communism.

As Matt said in the last episode, he's grateful that I'm doing this bonus by myself, so he

can stop listening to me, talk his ear off about Freud.

And Pat is partially responsible for that because during the pandemic, one of the things

that Hannah, my girlfriend and I did with our time was take not one, not two, but three

classes with Pat at the Brooklyn Institute on Freud, the early Freud, the late Freud and

Freud in politics.
