Summary

The United States coronavirus death toll has surpassed 101,000 and the rate of new coronavirus cases are trending up across most of the South. A key model is projecting 132,000 United States coronavirus deaths by August. The recent projection is 11,000 fewer than the key model's previous forecast. A new model forecasts that more hospital beds will be needed by June. The Columbia Model says that hospitalizations will decrease for two weeks and then rise again, approaching 3,000 hospitalizations a day by June 22. Trump tweets his sympathies and stokes culture wars as death toll climbs. Trump is claiming that there are "many different viewpoints" on wearing a mask despite the CDC guidelines. The New York governor is authorizing business to deny entry to those not wearing masks are face coverings.
