You ever send an email and you forget to attach a file that you referenced in the email?

after they had a big falling out and now they're writing letters to each other for the first time in 11 years.

An 18th century version of that failure to attach the file happens.

So wrote Thomas Jefferson to his friend James Madison about John Adams.

As two diplomats of the fledging United States, the two often saw each other.

The families who were close Jefferson was a frequent visitor in Paris.

Jefferson's daughter, Polly, actually stayed with the Adamses in London.

The two had met in the Continental Congress.
