Before she wrote her book, anticipating heaven, Dr. Pamela Pyle was a physician chasing purpose.

As a young, successful woman, when her fast and furious lifestyle came crashing down literally,

with their husband experiencing a near-death moment from a motorcycle injury

and a subsequent radical faith transition.

She was in a bit of a foggy faith wilderness for quite a while.

My name is Pamela.

And I'm a physician, internal medicine, board certified.

My practice had been working mostly in hospitals,

but also in Rwanda on mission since 2009. The beginning of my career, I was not a Christian.

But seven years in, I came to faith in a powerful way. I began to share my faith.

God really had a different plan for my life.

He really had to take me through a season of suffering

to understand that my identity wasn't in who I was,

wife, mother, doctor, with who I was in Christ.

And in that journey, I had reached a place where I didn't even know how to pray,

but I knew in the middle of the night, the only comfort was by laying my head on my Bible

and Jesus would meet me there.

And that was when I first went to Rwanda and he said,

this is your place and your purpose.
