There are so many verses that remind us of that, but boy, it can be hard to live fearless.

And that was true for my friend Trudy Fire Eisen. She admits it. She was

afraid, afraid of facing something hard. She was living in fear that something might happen that would

cause her to struggle to believe God really is faithful. I was a scared cat of trials. I don't know

how to put that, but a scary cat is the best way to put it.

And my husband was getting ready to do a retreat, actually, and he was doing it on trials at that time.

And he had, you know, different points like, how does God use trials?

And one of the things he said was God uses trials and then making us more like Christ. And I said, well, Johnny, I go,

what if you don't care as much about becoming more like Christ? You just don't want him, period,

because you're scared. And that's where I was in my life. And even though I was a Christian,

I was just very scared person. I don't think you're alone in that. I think many of us spend

lots of our time like trying to eliminate any kind of struggle. Is that

kind of how you felt like you were? Oh, yes. Oh, very much so. Yes. So how long had you been married

when you first noticed something was going on? Well, we got married in 1999 and then he had headaches

pretty early on. So we got an MRI and then that's when they saw something. That was in

2003, I believe. And then they just wanted to follow up and they kept following up until they did a

real specific one that looks into the chemical makeup. And that's when they said there's something in there.

Johnny said, well, what would you do? And the surgeon said, I would go in. I would just need to know what it is. And John goes, I agree. So we left. And my John was a very steady eddy, very faithful, very

biblically sound, and he didn't get rattled very easily. So he went to go right back to work
