Summary

Nancy Cantor is a social psychologist and the chancellor of Rutgers University–Newark, one of the most diverse institutions in the U.S. She is widely recognized for helping forge a new understanding of the role of universities in society that re-emphasizes their public mission. Christopher Howard is the first African-American president of Hampden–Sydney College in Virginia, an historically white all male school in the South. He is one of the youngest college presidents in the U.S., a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Academy, and a former Rhodes Scholar. 0:44.8	education's role in developing citizens in the 21st century and we have
0:49.2	been so fortunate to have a group of a conversation a group of discussants to
0:54.6	share this time with us and to then open it up to you for questions. I'll
0:58.8	introduce our host and moderator Krista Tippett and she will take us right
1:03.0	into the conversation with her discussants. Krista is a nationally recognized
1:08.8	journalist, author and entrepreneur. She is the creator and executive director of
1:14.2	the Peabody Award-winning public radio program on Beings that she
1:18.6	describes as a social enterprise with a radio program at its heart of more
1:25.7	importance to us or equal importance to us. The on-being is the home of the
