So at the start of the day I suppose probably important to add the context is like why it happened or why it kicked off on that

particular day so there was I think it was five people stabbed three of them were children by a man

outside Kalash them wear a school at the top of O'Connell Street, so right bang in the middle of the city centre.

It was kind of, you know, a random knife attack.

There wasn't any like terrorism angle or anything to it I think

just a lunatic attacking people but the vibe in the area in the run up to that say for the last two or three years and not

just that area but kind of increasingly in parts of the country. There's sort of being an antagonism I guess between the, like a lot of people

in the community and the asylum seekers that are being housed in, you know, emergency

accommodation by the government.

There is a lot of kind of mistrust and sort of fear between the two groups I guess and the I guess

they've you know people have been sort of expressing that view saying that their

children aren't safe and that's not to say that's completely made up like in a lot of these

places you know you'll see a lot of people you know drinking

alcohol are using drugs in public and people have to walk past this like it's a

part of their day-to-day and you know that could obviously generate a feeling of of unsafe

andness for the yeah anyway this was just this this was the the spark that kind of lit the whole thing up so this fellow was he was actually a naturalized or citizen. He been here for 20 years
