For most of recorded human history, the average like expectancy was between 20 and 40 years

of age.

That means most of you watching me right now, me included, would already be dead.

It wasn't until the mid-1800s that the average group passed 40.

But born in 1910, we're only expected to live to be 49 years old.

Oh, and get this.

This is pretty funny, actually.

The Social Security Administration was created in 1935, right?

Well, if you were born in 1930, the life expectancy for men was 58 and 62 for women.

But the retirement age to qualify for your Social Security was 65.

Do you see any problem with that?

That means it was set up for everybody to pay into it, but no one to withdraw from it.

And we thought Ponzi and Madoff had clever schemes, right?

Today, the average life expectancy here in the United States is 78.7 years.

But if you reach the age of 65, your expectancy goes up to 84 for men and 86.5 for women.

What are your odds of living to 100?

If you get to age 65, then you have a 3% chance of making it.

If you're a woman, your odds go up to 6%.
