International Relations. This here, commenting on the capitals and the points of view.

We've gone to new capitals this week to Nosotan, Astana in Kazakhstan, and now we go to a joint

capital. This is Seoul, South Korea, a republic, and Japan, Tokyo, our republic.

And we're looking at a monarchy.

A monarchy, thank you, Professor. And I'm a stickler for these things.

And we're looking at an unusual conversation between the Prime Minister of Japan and the

President of South Korea, both of whom are taking risk, political risk, for this conversation,

because of the bad history between these two states. But Professor, if there is a bright spot

in this last week, is it here?

Well, why is students of international politics?

And the ones I have in mind are no longer with us, but we're my colleagues at certain points.

We'll tell you that the most important American relationship is Washington, DC, and Tokyo.

And that is a very difficult relationship to manage, not least, because we don't

send to the embassy Americans who are really fluent in Japanese. And Japanese politics are so

complicated and it involves so many small groups. I mean, they're not more complicated
