Thursday the 8th of August two years and 171 days since the full scale

invasion began today I'm joined by Assistant Common Editor Francis Dernley and

former Tank Regiment Commander and Chemical Biological Weapons Expert Hamish de Breton Gordon.

I started with the latest news from Ukraine and Russia.

Ukraine's advance into Russia is continuing, so just to dial in on the geography because we're going to be talking about this

for quite some time I think. We are now in the northeast corner of Ukraine. There's the city of

Sumi in that area. We are northeast of Sumi up on the border region and just beyond it.

We're about 250 kilometers east of Kyiv, about a hundred kilometers northwest of Harkev.

And this area of fighting, this push by Ukraine across the border into Russia, is about

150 kilometers northwest along the border from where that Russian lodgment is just

north of Harqu Harkiv.

This whole area, the fighting, this invasion of Russia,

is about 400 kilometers northwest of the Donbass.
