I welcome Colonel Jeff McCausen, United States Army retired artillerymen, CBS News, visiting Professor Dickinson College, as well as CEO Diamond Six

leadership and strategy. Jeff, I know that you ran your artillery regiment, battalion and part of the regiment with plenty of

ammo. Logistics wins wars. You've taught me that over the last few years. Right

now the logistics is the war. The U.S. Congress is not yet ready to approve

the appropriation asked by the White House for additional monies for Ukraine

especially for amo.

Brussels, NATO, has voted 1.X billion euros of money for additional ammunition, but some of that ammunition is to replenish the stocks

that have been depleted by passing ammunition onto Ukraine.

Right now Ukraine says that it's nearly out of ammunition or out. I've heard wild tales of two

shells a day. Your measure of the way that the Ukrainians have fallen back, put in defensive positions, I've even seen

dragon's teeth out there, I haven't seen those since the Siegfried line.

Is that going to sustain them through these Russian probing attacks without heavy artillery.

It certainly does seem that the Ukrainians are moving to a far more defensive as opposed to an offensive strategy.

Part of that I think is due to the ammunition shortage as you point out.

And I have as well heard disturbing stories of artillery units having only a couple of rounds per gun to fire per day.

Same for tank units.

Further disturbing reports about shortages of air defense, which is forced the

Ukrainians to prioritize which cities are you going to defend and how much are you going to defend them.
