That would be the economist John Cochran and the geostrategist,

Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster, they are Hoover Institution Senior Fellows.

Normally we're joined by Neil Ferguson. He has the week off for good behavior,

but stepping in for him and elevating our conversation as to regards warfare in Ukraine.

So our guest, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, about our guest.

General Hodges is a 1980 graduate of West Point, which means he missed an opportunity to haze a young plea by HR McMaster by one year.

He is an infantry officer by trade.

General Hodges also served with the 1001st Airborne.

He was an instructor at the United States Army Infantry School. He's war tested, having commanded the first brigade of the 1001st Airborne. He was an instructor at the United States Army Infantry School.

He's war tested having commanded the first brigade of the 1001st airborne in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

General Hodges would go on to serve as Director of Operations of Regional Command South and Kandahar, Afghanistan.

His final post was that of commanding general of the United States Army Europe, a position he held for three years before retired from active duty in 2018. General Hodges holds the Pershing Chair in Strategic Studies at the Center for

European Analysis, which is a DC-based think take. He writes and comments on NATO, defense expenditures,
