John Foster Dallas, 1950. War or Peace, a book he published with ambitions for foreign policy at the time.

He was a New Yorker, a lawyer, a senator appointed by the governor, but in any event he looks forward to a career that we know now was the backbone of the Eisenhower administration during the early years of the Cold War, Secretary of State.

The book that he published in 1950, Chapter 19, has a quote that helps me to understand what we're witnessing now globally.

Multiple wars, multiple threats, different players moving around.

The quote, when the world thermometer registers not war, not peace, it is hard to decide whether

to follow military judgments or political judgments.
