In the springtime, I welcome Simon Constable writing for distinguished publications

the Wall Street Journal and Barons, but right now he's reporting on his daffodils, his irises,

and springtime in the south of France.

Simon I watched the cloud cover over Europe to make myself feel better

when it's snowing in New England.

I've not seen clouds for days and days after all that rain you had through the winter

and you're going to tell me your spring flowers are arriving I know it I've got

daffodils maybe an inch and a half. Where are yours? Good evening to you,

Simon. Good evening to you, John. The daffodils are there and they are popping open right now, right now all over the garden and in the glades within

the woodlands and looking beautiful and as happy as at daffodils always do.

The iris of a sprouted up, they're about six inches high.

The flowers haven't yet bounced forward, but they will do shortly.

We've got butterflies flying around,

and I've come to notice this because the dog is chasing

the butterflies, which seems to be a bit cruel

on the butterflies if they ever get caught by it.

And the birds are out there trying to make their nests and breed and have their little baby

checks.

So it's all very idyllic.

Enough good news. Let's try for some bad news, Simon. It is Europe and there's economic news.
