Leaven at the Quincy Institute for Responsible State, and I go to the Financial Times in these

last days and making an announcement that's significant for the relationship, the special relationship

between London and Washington. UK expected to appoint national security advisor as ambassador to the US.

The UK government is preparing to announce Sir Tim Barrow,

who will become the country's next ambassador to the US, sparking threats from

labor that it may reverse the appointment.

You will all remember that a general election is due by January of 25 or December of 24. And until you have written very

trenchantly about the appointment of Sir Tim Barrow. This is a national security emphasis. It makes a statement

for the Tories. Does it make a statement for the UK that it's guns not butter for the next year.

Yes, I think so. I mean, this is a really strong sign of the, well, the further securitization of the relationship between Britain and America that the conservatives

are really, you know, determined to get into lockstep with Washington when it comes to international security policy.

Obviously towards Russia and Ukraine, but perhaps, you know, Orcus in Asia as well towards China.

Oh, quite why labor is making such a big thing of this, I'm not entirely sure,

except obviously for domestic political purposes much the same thing and Tim Barrow is not a conservative politician.
